We all grow up with childhood crushes. I've had a few and they're not quite who you would think. I was a bit unconventional when it came to picking men to pine over. For example I loved David Duchovny in the X-Files (still do for the record). Around the same time I also had a serious crush on Jeff Goldblum in Independence Day, and don't even get me started on Tim Hutton in Beautiful Girls or Bill Paxton circa Twister! Before all of them though, the very very first was Michael Keaton as Batman. I was 5 when I first watched that film, and while I was terrified of Joker, I was completely smitten with turtleneck wearing, bespectacled Bruce Wayne. (Any man that thinks turtlenecks are lame are seriously misinformed and need to take notes from 1989 Michael Keaton -- just sayin.)
Looking back there's definitely a pattern of very intelligent yet broody men that seemed to mesmerise me. The more I think about it, lets add Gene Kelly and Paul Newman to that list while we're at it. I'm not going to lie when I say I think I had impeccable taste! For some reason though, I never admitted said crushes to my friends. I chalk it up to being worried that they'd call me a nerd. As an adult, I'm totally proud of my 5 year old/pre-teenage self. If crushing over these incredible men is nerdy than I am guilty as charged!
Woo! That feels so good to get off my chest! Now does anyone know if any of these guys need Valentines?
Who were your childhood crushes? I'd love to hear about them in the comments!
