Hello everyone, whomever everyone may be...
I took a long break from blogging because I started realizing that, wherever I went and whatever I did, documenting everything was changing my thought process. Instead of enjoying food that was set in front of me, I felt I had to photograph it. Instead of enjoying a gorgeous view first hand, I fought the overwhelming urge to put it on my Stories.
When something is presented beautifully in front of us, why is our first impulse to now capture it on a mini mobile screen? To share it with the world? Perhaps. But why have we begun to sacrifice our experiences for social media's sake?
This question rattled my brain after visiting the MOMA (for the first time in nearly a decade), and seeing people photographing beautiful artwork by some of the most talented folks to have ever lived. In ten years, the flocks of people huddled 'round a painting were no longer studying color or brush strokes, but waiting to have their turn at quickly snapping a Van Gough or taking their selfies in front of a Warhol.
Like these paintings, most moments in our lives, are best experienced in person and first hand because a photograph hardly does them justice.
The fact is, when I spend all my time trying to get the perfect shot, I find myself not remembering the moment at all; just all the time I spent behind my camera or iPhone. And while I still love taking photographs, I am trying to be a little more present in my journey rather than striving for social media perfection. I'm also taking a bit more time to think of the impact I'm having on this lovely environment we live in. I'll get more in depth on that later.
So, this is the new Blonde & Bounder -- Still an American girl living in England, still loving her pups -- just trying to be a little more aware of the moments around her, and her impact on the planet. Don't worry, there will still be plenty of photos just don't expect perfection. Let's be honest, no one is perfect and we need to remember that. Afterall, imperfection is what makes us all pretty fantastic!
